The Asprokremmos Dam is overflowing for the first time since 2004. The winter of 2011/2012 has been one of the wettest in recent years, making the overflow of the massive dam a local spectacle.
In recent years, water shortages and rationing has been a feature of summer life in Cyprus. According to Kyriacos Kyrou, the Director of the Cyprus Water Development Department this is “No longer on the cards”.
