Snorkelling in Cyprus: Coral Bay
Coral Bay is a holiday makers paradise. The beach is packed end-to-end with sun loungers, which means the bay itself just isn’t snorkelling territory. Get a little way up the coast though, and the story gets much better. Here’s what we found.
Getting there
Follow your way through Coral Bay past the main beach, turn left and pass the Coral Beach Hotel on your left. Keep going until you get to a sign pointing to the Panareti on your left. Turn left there and follow your way to the sea – you’ll need a 4×4 or alternatively walk the last bit!
What’s good about it?
Crystal clear water that gets deep fast. Some types of fish not common in other places. The waves lashing the coastline.
What’s bad about it?
On anything but the stillest day the waves can be a bit of a challenge if you’re not a strong swimmer. Watch out for the currents around the rocks. Getting in and out can be a challenge, especially with fins on.
Our snorkel rating?
Three out of five.
Will the fish says
The bay is clear, deep in places, many fish of different species, nobody around to spoil our fun, hard to get in.
