With the inaugural Paphos International Rally just weeks away, the organisers of Round 4 of the FIA Middle East Rally Championship (MERC) have confirmed the itinerary for what promises to be a memorable motorsport event in the Cyprus sun. You could be there – find out how.

To be held from Friday 1st to Sunday 3rd July, the Paphos International Rally succeeds the acclaimed Troodos Rally and will see competitors from across Cyprus and the region battle it out on the island’s renowned special stages.
Entries are already open for the event, which sits in the middle of this year’s MERC calendar.
After three rounds (Qatar, Kuwait and Jordan), Sheik Abdullah Al Qassimi of the UAE tops the leaderboard with 51 points, but Qatar’s Nasser Al-Attiyah is just a single point behind.
With a spectacular unbroken run of 8 victories at Cyprus MERC events, Al-Attiyah will enter the event on confident form, but he’ll face tough competition from a strong field of local and regional talent.
The event will be centred around Paphos’ attractive harbour, with its rich mix of historical attractions and many restaurants, bars and cafes.
Friday 1 July
Paphos’ harbour square will provide the venue for the Ceremonial Start of the event on Friday evening at 19:30, which will give fans their first chance to see the competing crews amidst a variety of entertainment. The Service Park and Rally HQ will be located close by.
Saturday 2 July
The Paphos Rally proper gets underway at 10:00 the following morning from the Service Park, with the first car entering Special Stage (SS) 1 (Monashilakas) at 11:03, SS 2 (Foinokli) at 12:06, and SS3 (Argaka) at 12:59.
Crews will return to the Service Park at 14:14 and then head out again at 14:44 to tackle the afternoon loop of stages – SS4 (Monashilakas) at 15:47, SS5 (Foinokli) at 16:50, and SS6 (Argaka) at 17:43.
Saturday will see drivers tackle a total of 386.06km, including 119.94km of special stage action.

Sunday 3 July
Crews will cover a further 346.88km on Sunday, including 132.26km of Special Stages.
Parc Ferme out is at 09:00 on Sunday morning, with the first car entering the first stage of the day SS7 (Anadiou) at 10:08. The first car enters SS8 (Galataria) at 11:16, and SS9 (Agios Nikolaos) at 11:59.
Crews then return to Paphos harbour for Service at 13:14.
Crews will then head out at 13:44 for the last three stages of the event – SS10 (Anadiou) at 14:42, SS11 (Galataria) at 15:50, and finally SS12 (Agios Nikolaos) at 16:33. Cars will return to the Service Park for final service at 17:41.

November – the 2011 Cyprus Rally
2011 will see Cyprus host two major international rallying events.
Attracting entrants from across the globe, the Cyprus Rally is one of the best known rallies on the international stage and the 2011 event will take place between the 3rd and 5th November. It will serve as the 12th – and final – round of the 2011 Intercontinental Rally Challenge (IRC) calendar.
