The Fountain of Gerolakkos restaurant in Tsada was one of those totally lucky finds. It was a dull, wet and cold Sunday when we were looking for somewhere new. We chanced on the Gerolakkos – and what a find it turned out to be.
Turn off the main Paphos to Polis road into Tsada onto the road that goes to Kallepia and Letymbou and the Fountain of Gerolakkos is on the right hand side.
The Fountain of Gerolakkos restaurant has opened recently. New it may be – traditional it is too. Lots of stonework, bamboo ceilings, big open fire in the winter.
The construction work isn’t quite finished – especially outside – but that doesn’t get in the way of the charm of the Fountain of Gerolakkos. It’s very much open for business and very pleasant it is too.
The Fountain of Gerolakkos restaurant is a good place if you relish eating food that comes straight from the Cypriot text book with solid rustic appeal.
The positioning of the tavern, set just below and to the side the family home, is picture perfect, offering a lovely and peaceful view down through the valley and out to the sea beyond.
The outside area is still being worked to include an outside barbeque area, Kleftico, bread oven and bar, plus a decent parking area ready in time for balmy evenings of al fresco dining.
When we went we really appreciated the roaring log fire in the dining room. Tsada does get a bit chilly on winter evenings.
Everything about the Fountain of Gerolakkos restaurant resonates with a clean and simple family venture run by Pavlos who should take pride in what he has achieved.
