April in Cyprus is delightful. It’s pleasantly warm, it’s Easter and the tourists are now returning in force. All this adds up to Cyprus being a really good place to be in April.
Easter is big in Cyprus. Almost bigger than Christmas. Everywhere there’s giant Easter eggs by the side of the road – all saying ‘Happy Easter’ in Greek. Of course the Greek alphabet is different to the British aphabet – but a rough phonetic translation is ‘Kalo Passha’.
April’s weather in Cyprus is very pleasant. Yes there’s still a few showers around, but the majority of the time it’s sunny and warm. Average temperatures during April in Cyprus are 22 degrees C during the day and 13 degrees C at night.Â
The drier weather shows in its effect on the countryside. The month starts with the island covered in flowers. By the end of April, the verdant greens are fading and the countryside is turning a more golden colour.
The other big change in April is the trickle of tourists arriving in March becomes a flow in April. Many more flights arrive from the UK meaning there’s many more visitors to Cyprus. The restaurants and bars are now pretty much all open – Cyprus has come alive again for the next summer season.
