Polemi - 20 miles and 20 years from the bustle of Paphos

Polemi is a simple, agricultural, truly Cypriot village miles from the bustle of the tourist trail.

Situated in an unspoilt location, yet provided with all the necessities and in touch with the local environment.

Polemi is centrally located within the Paphos Region making it close to and easily accessible from all areas and activities. It is approximately half an hour from Paphos airport, 20 minutes from Paphos on the inland road which goes to Polis, 20 minutes from the beaches of Polis and Coral bay, 15 minutes from the forest area and 5 minutes from Tsada golf course.

The village has all the charm and hospitality that typifies traditional Cyprus. It’s a fully independent village with everything you need day-to-day. It’s traditional taverns offer real Cypriot cuisine. There are also coffee shops, supermarkets, a bakery and a bank. There is also a wonderfully restored monastery where traditional wedding feasts are held.

This village is famous for its vineyards, and in the old times donkeys were used to transport the grapes from the vineyards. SODAP operate a modern winery between Polemi and Stroumpi, replacing an older winery on the edge of the village. As you drive around, you can see why a bigger winery was needed – everywhere you look there are vines. The fertile land also grows cereal and other products making Polemi a major agricultural centre. The flora in the village is beautiful – especially the famous tulips that flower in spring.

Polemi has a number of churches, the oldest being Panagia Chryseleousa which was built in the 13/14th century and is now a protected building.

In Polemi, you can while away the hours admiring the fantastic mountain views, or take in a round of golf in nearby Tsada.

Recently – like so many real Cypriot villages – a number of Brits have taken up residence in Polemi.  And as they’ve done so, they’ve built their villas around the edges of the village.  The result, the village retains its traditional charm.

Polemi is the perfect village for a pleasant and comfortable lifestyle. Relax and enjoy its beautiful landscapes and gentle way of life. Lie back and enjoy magical evenings gazing at the stars lulled by the gentle sounds of the night crickets.
